Retatrutide Prefilled Multidose Pen
Patient Information Leaflet
Please read this leaflet carefully before using your Retatrutide pen and keep it for future reference. Consult your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse if you have any questions.
What is Retatrutide?
Retatrutide is an innovative peptide designed to support weight management and improve metabolic health. It acts as a multi-receptor agonist, influencing pathways that regulate appetite, energy utilization, and glucose metabolism. It is administered as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection using this prefilled multidose pen.
What GLP is it?
Retatrutide is a triple agonist, targeting three key receptors:
- GLP-1 (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1): Enhances insulin secretion and suppresses appetite.
- GIP (Glucose-dependent Insulinotropic Polypeptide): Improves insulin sensitivity and fat metabolism.
- Glucagon: Increases energy expenditure and promotes fat breakdown. This combination may offer enhanced metabolic benefits compared to single GLP-1 agonists.
Anabolic?
Retatrutide is not traditionally anabolic (i.e., it does not directly promote muscle growth like anabolic steroids). Its primary role is to aid weight loss, suppress appetite, and enhance metabolic function. However, by optimizing fat metabolism, it may indirectly help preserve lean body mass when combined with proper diet and exercise.
Active Ingredient
- Retatrutide: Each prefilled multidose pen contains 30 mg of retatrutide in a total volume designed for 240 clicks (0.125 mg per click).
Benefits
- Supports weight loss by reducing hunger and increasing feelings of fullness.
- Improves glucose metabolism, potentially aiding in diabetes management or prevention.
- May enhance energy expenditure and accelerate fat breakdown.
Instructions for Use
Follow these steps to use your Retatrutide prefilled multidose pen safely and effectively. Always wash your hands before starting.
- Prepare Your Pen
- Check the pen label to confirm it contains Retatrutide and is not expired.
- Inspect the Retatrutide medicine through the pen window. It should be clear and colorless. Do not use if it’s cloudy, discolored, or contains particles.
- Remove the pen cap.
- Attach the Needle (6 Needles Supplied)
- Tear off the paper tab from a new needle pack.
- Push the needle straight onto the pen and turn it clockwise until it’s tight.
- Pull off the outer needle cap and then the inner needle cap, keeping the needle sterile.
- Check the Retatrutide Flow with Each New Pen
- Turn the dose selector to 1 click.
- Hold the pen with the needle pointing up and gently press the dose button until a drop of liquid appears at the needle tip. This ensures the pen is working. If no liquid appears, repeat up to 3 times. If it still doesn’t work, use a new pen.
- Select Your Clicks
- The pen delivers up to 60 clicks per injection (7.5 mg max per dose). For higher doses (e.g., 9 mg), split the injection into two parts: administer half the dose, then immediately inject the remaining half at a different site.
- Turn the dose selector to the number of clicks prescribed:
- Week 1: 16 clicks (2 mg)
- Week 2: 32 clicks (4 mg)
- Week 3: 48 clicks (6 mg)
- Week 4: 72 clicks (9 mg) – Inject 36 clicks, then 36 more
- Week 5: 72 clicks (9 mg) – Inject 36 clicks, then 36 more
Injecting Your Dose
- Choose an injection site: abdomen (at least 2 inches from the navel), thigh, or upper arm. Rotate sites weekly.
- Clean the site with an alcohol wipe and let it dry.
- Insert the needle into your skin at a 90-degree angle.
- Press and hold down the dose button until the dose counter returns to 0.
- Slowly count to 6 while holding the button to ensure the full dose is delivered.
- Remove the needle from your skin.
- After Your Injection
- Carefully remove the needle from the pen and place it in a sharps container.
- Put the pen cap back on to protect it for future use.
- Store the pen as directed (see Storage below).
